My name is Teeraparb Chantavat. I am currently a lecture at the Institute for Fundamental study (IF), Naresuan University. My research interests are cosmology, large-scale structure of the Universe, computational astrophysics and astrostatistics. My research is an interface between astrophysical theories and observations so I am not really doing observations myself. Since theories cannot be validated without observations, what I do is basically compare the theoretical predictions with the real data and statistically in order justify the credibility of the theories.
Since we cannot really conduct experiments on the Universe on such a large scale, the only way we can do is to let the computer simulates the universe for us. I am also performing computer simulations on many astrophysical phenomena, which we could change the parameters, such as the density of matter, and see what we could potentially observe without any real harm on us. Recently, I research interest is application of machine learning to help us extract useful information from big data.
